Romain Le Bonniec

Autodidacte, et de formation universitaire, Romain Le Bonniec s'initie à la lumière par le métier de chef électricien. 
Passant très vite à la direction de la photographie, il signe l'image de nombreux courts-métrages, dont Aïssa, nommé aux Césars et Mention Spéciale du Jury au Festival de Cannes 2014 (Compétition Officielle). 

Entre documentaires (Visages, Villages, d'Agnès Varda et Jr, Detroiters, d’Andreï Schtakleff…) et fictions (Mikado, de Baya Kasmi, Tout fout le camp et Ulysse & Mona, de Sébastien Betbeder…), Romain Le Bonniec trace un parcours cinématographique singulier, par delà les frontières et les genres.

Self-taught and university-trained, Romain Le Bonniec began his journey into lighting as a chief electrician. Quickly moving on to cinematography, he has worked as a director of photography on numerous short films, including Aïssa, which was nominated for a César and received a Special Jury Mention at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival (Official Competition).

Navigating between documentaries (Faces Places by Agnès Varda and JR, Detroiters by Andreï Schtakleff…) and fiction films (Mikado by Baya Kasmi, Tout fout le camp and Ulysse & Mona by Sébastien Betbeder…), Romain Le Bonniec has forged a unique cinematic path across borders and genres.
